by mp Warming - USA/Berlin
Archival limited edition of ten printed in giclée method on Hahnemühle William Turner textured paper, lending an etched quality. Size 74x96 cm/ 29x38 in.
This 'Spirit Diver' print was created with Dr. Alex Jordan of Max Planck Institute of Collective Behaviour for the 500th year of Leonard da Vinci’s death. The print was first exhibited at the Art/NaturSci Pavilion that Warming curated at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello for the 2019 Venice Biennale. That same year she was a guest of Max Planck scientists at STARESO Marine Research Institute on Corsica.
Along with Warming's scientific Illustrations of octupi and her drawing of Jordan's ear, the montage includes science on collective animal behaviour from Jordan's lab and images the app they created for underwater animal tracking. Other images are from a book by the first explorer at the remote location where Jordan and his team reseach, on Lake Tanganika.
